“But what are we going to do with them all?” asked Mum.

“I can see if there’s a pair my size. And maybe a size bigger to put away!” said Eugene.

“Me too!” said Miles.

Dad smiled. “You can give it a go,” he said.

“See, Eugene, I knew you were creative,” Mum said.

Eugene froze. “Oh no! Mum, my art project is due tomorrow! I’ve been so busy with the shoes I haven’t even started!”

Chapter 3

Eugene slumped over, his hands on his head, grabbing fistfuls of his hair. This would never have happened if he were in a real classroom!

“At least you have lots of things to make something with now,” said Mum.

“Where? What?” cried Eugene.

“The shoes!” said Miles.
